Monday, Port Charlotte
For those of you who do not know today marks the first of three days at the Southeastern District Conference for the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Arrived in Port Charlotte about 12:30pm, checked in to our hotel, found the church where the conference is being held and so far so good. Attended my first seminar which was a lesson on, Dealing with Conflict: Why Confrontation requires Community. Not bad information but it felt like an info commercial as the person leading the seminar was also promoting his book and ministry. Suppose it would have been better in a small group setting where interaction in dialog would have been enhanced, but really if a person reads their Bible its all right in there. Nothing dramatic and enlightening in the way of eye opening information was shared mostly just sound biblical training being reinforced.
Tonights seminar sounds interesting it is titled: Becoming the Leader God Intended: A Leader with the Fathers heart. I know the gentleman teaching this seminar so hopefully it will be a little more engaging than the one from earlier today. Part of the reason for the conference is to enable the various church workers and pastors throughout the district to complete their continuing education requirements and the other part is to conduct and vote on various business decisions that mast be addressed within the district. My having just be approved by the district as an official worker now requires me to attend this conference.
Today is day three of a fast. I am finding that I am not really all that hungry and that eating is something I could do, but it doesnt really feel like something I need to do. I am still trying to find Gods Purpose for this fast and I am noticing that while I am denying myself food the desires and temptations of the flesh have seemingly lost their allure as well. Maybe the reason for that loss of the allure of temptation is because of an increase in the focus and reliance on God. The coveting fleshly desires of the enticements of life have lost their importance; in other words the gluttony of the flesh, the need to have more than I really need, isnt there. Does that make sense?
I have been praying for Gods direct and purpose for this fast. It was not something I was planning. Here are some basic questions I was bouncing off my pastor on the drive to Port Charlotte today and maybe some of you can offer some insight. For us as Christians biblically what are the reasons why someone would start a fast? How long should a person fast for? What should a person expect to accomplish through fasting? When should a person stop fasting?
Elsewhere, my fantasy football team didnt have all that great of day yesterday. Hopefully, tonight with the two options I have I will be able to acquire points and stay respectable for the week.
I have been hearing mixed reports with relation to the economy. Some are speculating the Feds are going to cut the rates by a quarter point but maybe by as much as a half point this week. While I have read that some people like Greenspan are saying that the dollar is going to become secondary to the euro.

) please explain how this would effect us:
) which lasted 3 weeks (21 days) for Daniel until he got an answer...but it seems there were specific reasons involved for both situations, so the answer would be a definite ending to the fasting period.....???
