Im going to do something a little different here today with this post and review a couple of movies I watched this weekend. Both movies I will recommend as Christian family friendly movies.

The first movie I watched is titled, Unidentified which is a Rich Christiano film. The premise of the story is about an investigation into a UFO report that appeared in a Redland, TX Southwest news brief. The report states that a man of 38, Randy Mitchell, encountered a UFO while driving home on a back highway. Mitchell claims a large cloud hovered over his vehicle driving him from it and abducted him. Two reports from a large national Magazine are sent to investigate the incident by their editor who wants to publish a story on the controversial subject of UFOs. the two reporters are on different end of the spectrum in how they view the UFO phenomena. Brad, played by Josh Adamson, thinks UFOs are a hoax, while Keith, played by Jonathan Aube, senses that something is out there. A competition develops between the two men to prove the other wrong in their theories. Rebecca St. James plays a supporting role in the film and was the only name I recognized within the cast.

The movie overall is entertaining and does present a good message of the need to take a stand for and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. I was somewhat disappointed in that the film at one point does take a pre-tribulation view of the rapture with a common misunderstanding of scripture as an explanation, but this is overshadowed by the major theme of the movie in the need for Christ. If nothing else this pre-tribulation presumption made within the film does provide a window of opportunity to discuss biblical end times understanding with family and friends. Eschatology views aside, there were points in the film where I felt there could have been better story line development and explanation. The gaps in explanations of events and discovery were the films major weakness. Watch the film and come your own conclusions as the film drawers its premise and conclusions of the UFO phenomena based on theories held by many Christians.

Director Rich Christiano also directed the movie Time Changer(B+ rating) which I would strongly recommend watching if you have not yet had the chance. I will recommend watching Unidentified because of its strong message for a relationship with Jesus Christ, but with a word of caution for those who do not hold to the pre-tribulation view. If I were to rate this movie I would give it a solid B rating or 3.75 4 stars out of 5 stars.

The second movie I watched this weekend was: Lee Strobels The Case for Christ.

This film is more of a documentary that accounts Lee Strobels journey from atheism to faith through his two year investigation of the Bible and the life of Christ. Lee Strobel is the former legal editor of the Chicago Tribune.

This film documents Lees investigative skills in examining the historical accuracy of the Gospels, the personal claims of Jesus and His resurrection from the dead. Focusing on these three areas and drawing on the expert advice of many Biblical scholars from North American and England to substantiate the facts the film is easy to follow and clearly presents the information to the viewer. The key question presented in the film is: Is there enough evidence to confirm that Jesus of Nazareth was, indeed, the son of God and the savior of the world?

Though this film may not be entertaining in the form of a Hollywood style script it is vastly entertaining and captivating in its examining of the facts about the life of Jesus Christ. All the information is laid out systematically as if presenting the facts for a criminal trial. The information is compelling and may force people to reevaluate what they believe about Jesus Christ.

The overall production of the movie is well done. I would recommend this movie to all and to especially share this movie with those who have questions about the authenticity of Jesus Christ and the Scriptures. The only thing that I felt was lacking in the movie was the conveying of the urgency and passion of Lee Strobels quest for answers. The film did not bring me to a place where I felt the urgent need to research the information for myself. However, with that said, the film is very informative, the evidence well laid out and easy to follow. I would rate this film an A or 4.5 4.75 stars out of 5 stars.
