Watching the movie Time Changer again the other night I was again reminded and amazed at the simplistic truth of the message of the movie.

It is what happens to society when God is removed.

Satan is not against good morals, he is against Jesus Christ.

It is not enough just to tell somebody not to steal, but one must also be told who said stealing is wrong and why.

We only need to look at our schools over the last 40 years and the disintegrating behavior of the children - that they all know what is right and wrong, but that they have no respect or fear for the authoritative consequences of their actions because all their actions are based upon their own rationalization of what they consider to be acceptable. They believe there are no absolutes and that everything has an exception.

Throughout the years as these children have grown and entered society as adults they have brought these same standards along with them and we are witnessing the results: A humanistic society devoid of God and the eternal consequences of reverence towards the Creators Law. Right and wrong is a matter of ones preference if you can get enough people to agree with you it must be okay. By removing the authority behind the moral rules we have created a society where each is their own god The subtle plan/lie of Satan.

Satan is not against good morals, he is against Jesus Christ.

That is so true!

It is what I keep struggling against in another forum, as well as forums I have gotten banned from. It is the whole thing of what I believe Jesus was addressing when He spoke of "white-washed sepulchers" full of "dead men's bones". If we put men's feelings, sayings, traditions, etc, first and foremost, and God as some etherial and ambiguous ideal that means different things to different people, you get into all kinds of trouble.

Yes, God is much greater than at present we can fully comprehend, but does that thereby give us license to make a "god of our own making" one that we can "live with" compromising him, or it, with our own value system, making ourselves and whatever we want, "god"? Is that what God means by merciful and forgiving? Many want the love of god to mean that He will accept whatever we want to ascribe to Him, and make Him fit into a box of our own contrivance.

The idea that Jesus presented, the one about the white-washed sepulchers, is a very interesting one to examine and consider. During the Jewish high holy days, the gravestones and sepulchers (tombs) were washed with a fresh coat of white paint. This was done to warn the travellers who would come to the holy land from distant places, and they would see the graveyards from a distance and not come upon them by accident, because that would make them ceremonially unclean and unfit to join in the high holy day celebrations. So, likewise, Jesus compared the Pharisees to these. They clung to their traditions, and counted on their outwardly washed appearance to others.

But Jesus said that white-washed exterior of the Pharisees was a huge red flag to stay away from them, or to become polluted like them! Jesus was providing a very graphic illustration of how "self-elevation" and outward works to make oneself holy, was something aweful, and dead inside, and that it was spiritually contagious!

I come across this so often, and when I try to root out such things, the venomous fangs of those who are trying to keep their cover "pure" come out in full attack, and accuse me of attacking them! I used to get really frustrated, and sometimes still do, but more and more, it is just interesting to me to see it, and then to do what Jesus said, avoid the whited sepulchers. They won't change by me arguing with them. I just hope some of them, like Lazarus was called out by Jesus from a tomb, will be brought forth from their dead works, into true life. :wink

You know... that is our biggest struggle today, many people in the church refuse to see what is written about satan and his designs on Gods people. But satan insists that his ministers promote good morals, it makes them look righteous in the eye of the unlearned and unbelieving.

Many in the church make a false assumption due to lack of knowledge... they falsely assume that satan has no influence on the christian religion but the truth is...he disguises himself as an angel of light ...thus we are told that it should be no surprise that his ministers are clothed by him as righteous ones...piously promoting good morals.

The truth is he sowed his tares in the field of wheat...not amongst the world of unbelievers, who are already his being condemned thru unbelief.

Unbelievers are already his....its the redeemed that he wants back....those who have been loosed from his yoke by belief in Christs death and resurrection are the ones he puts his efforts towards.

And that so many are blind to this... :verysad

They are so blinded to it that when you put the the word of God right in front of them...that speak exactly of such things...they brush it off as irrelevant

For example the warning that some leaders in the church would even deny the one who bought them...

2Pe 2:1
But there were false prophets also among the people,
even as there shall be false teachers among you,
who privily shall bring in damnable heresies,
even denying the Lord that bought them,
and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2Pe 2:2
And many shall follow their pernicious ways;
by reason of whom
the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

And then give them solid evidence of leaders in the church doing just that...they'll even agree that is what has happened but then shrug it off with a

"So what?"
"The rest of their message is solid and more importantly, they have a good heart."

No satan has no problem with people in the church being taught to have good morals. Cause good morals are most effective at blinding people when the appearance of their self righteousness is reflected back to them.

Thus they have no need of Christ.

Thats why the rallying cry today....
"seek the Christ that IS the inside YOU"
Can be publicly proclaimed from the roof tops to any and all without fear or rebuke.

Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

They say..."I am christ and you are christ...we are all christs each and every one of us when we practice our good morals."

No satan doesnt have and problem with the teaching of good morals in the church...from the very begining it has been the downfall of men and lead many astray .

"Hath God truly said... ye shall die?"

"No indeed...Ye shall be as gods!"

Yes, very well put.

Satan keeps revamping and spreading his same old story, that minimizes what God has done, and replaces it with "did God REALLY say that?"

In the CARM SDA forum, I learned alot more about SDAism than I previously understood about it while I was in it (age 9-17 because of my dad's involvement). It has an appearance of holiness, but they elevate Ellen G White, their prophetess, and the Saturday sabbath, as foundational to the faith. :thumbsdown

and have many undercurrents of false doctrines that fly just beneath the radar, somewhat similar to Mormonism and somewhat like JW's. They rarely (only when someone else brings it up, and only those verses that seem to say the law is still binding) bring up the book of Galatians, because that book fully exposes exactly how wrong they are.

I also work with a young woman whose family is SDA. She lives alone, and still attends that church. She is very moral, but knows next to nothing about what the Bible really says. I recently noticed another coworker reading an EGW book, the Great Controversy. In that book, EGW indicates that Jesus was an archangel, and that the Father conferred "godhood" upon him. UGH!!!! :angry1

I'm praying every day for the words, praying that Jesus will open a door there. I think I cannot say anything (because I know that if uninvited it will be even less warmly received) until they ask me for my opinion....I'm watching and waiting for that door to open.

What bothers me more than anything, is when people say "they are probably saved anyway...."

:sigh

why say that? Why is not ok to say they are probably NOT SAVED, but it is ok to say THEY PROBABLY ARE SAVED? Both are judgemental statements....but I think the last one is worse.

Came across this today and thought of this thread. Again it shows that satan has no problem with moral teachings as they are the lowest common denominator.

[TBC: According to Scripture, "...when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts..." (Romans 2:14-15). It should not be surprising then, when researchers find evidence of the same.]

On The "Moral Instinct" [Excerpts]

Scientists work feverishly to unravel the mysteries of the mind and they are many. In The Time's Magazine this week, Stephen Pinker writes about what motivates man's moral decisions. He calls it the "moral instinct". Instinct implies that men are born encoded with morality--it's instinctual. Perhaps. My thought is that man is born with the bias toward morality.

So there are five factors that appear to be encoded to people's moral sense no matter where they live in the world:

When anthropologists like Richard Shweder and Alan Fiske survey moral concerns across the globe, they find that a few themes keep popping up from amid the diversity. People everywhere, at least in some circumstances and with certain other folks in mind, think it's bad to harm others and good to help them. They have a sense of fairness: that one should reciprocate favors, reward benefactors and punish cheaters. They value loyalty to a group, sharing and solidarity among its members and conformity to its norms. They believe that it is right to defer to legitimate authorities and to respect people with high status. And they exalt purity, cleanliness and sanctity while loathing defilement, contamination and carnality.

The exact number of themes depends on whether you're a lumper or a splitter, but Haidt counts five -- harm, fairness, community (or group loyalty), authority and purity -- and suggests that they are the primary colors of our moral sense. Not only do they keep reappearing in cross-cultural surveys, but each one tugs on the moral intuitions of people in our own culture.

So every culture exhibits these traits to one extent or another.
